For over four decades Mike has been shooting and chasing the elusive Wild Goose; mainly the Pink-footed Goose. He certainly knows the meaning of the saying, 'A Wild Goose Chase and Goose Fever' as he has experienced it many times throughout his lifetime. Now in his mid-sixties he has probably seen and been involved in areas of shooting that will never be witnessed or ever re-lived again. But local reports show that now even after many, many years geese are still on a 20% yearly increase. It must be the most sought after bird in the UK during the winter months. There are a number of short stories in this book about his 'adventures' as he calls them and the fun he shared with many others. Mike talks about what it's like to go Wildfowling and inland Goose Shooting. He tells of sitting for hours just waiting to see those magnificent birds as they leave the safety of the estuaries or lochs to fly inland to their feeding grounds.

You may think you know how this cancer story goes. The characters: a little boy, a loving family, the team of doctors. The diagnosis: terminal, little hope for a cure. There are two possible outcomes. Will his family be plunged into extreme sorrow or miraculous joy? What if the answer was both? Ellie Poole Ewoldt debuts with a memoir of desperate hope and fierce love; of a family who refused to give up even when they heard the worst possible news for their two-year-old son, Chase. Moment by moment, the Ewoldts faced brain surgery and chemo, spinal taps and transfusions. And yet, the true miracle lay not in the medicine or Chase’s prognosis—rather, Chase’s life shows us the miracle of hope, even through the darkest nights. If there is anything he and the Ewoldts have learned, it is that God is always good and will stay at your side through every moment, no matter what it holds. You’ll fall in love with Chase through his story and be inspired to help chase away cancer—for this headstrong boy, his fighting friends, and all those in your own life who need hope for whatever tomorrow may bring.

Beyond the year 2022, the Earth is experiencing scarcity that people dare to travel in space to find either raw materials or a new habitat. If they can’t find one, they may make one. Humans are slowly but surely getting accustomed to meet alien life-forms from different galaxies, and the new experience is quite an adventure. With this big leap in intergalactic happenstance, could it be that the Apocalypse is just a rumor? a myth? Or something just intervenes? Duain Bennett’s rich imagination creates a spur of the moment, humorous collection of sci-fi spoofs that could have taken place anywhere at anytime. Laugh as the top men of two mining companies outsmart and outmaneuver each other in their search for mining prospects in space, and then work together to increase their profits through schemes that will otherwise be disastrous if it hasn’t been beneficial to Earth in “The New World in the Making.” Be amused as a sixty-five year-old man, planning an exciting summer sailing, meets a twenty-one-year-old daughter of the one who discovered ancient aliens and gets his adventure of a lifetime in search for a disk that will stop Apocalypse in “The Pontoon Houseboat.” Discover the funny side of a different kind of love story between a young scientist, his colleagues, and the robots from outer space in “Things.” Chuckle at every turn as two friends and their wives ride their modified vehicles against visiting aliens in “The Race of the Worlds.” Lastly, turn back time in “The Little Black Time Box,” where a professor and his two women colleagues try to discover how a little time box can affect events and people while at the same time exploring possible relationships that will get your mind in the gutter.

Thursday, February 1, 1945. "Ai oh! We forgot the small one!," wailed second aunty as the doors to the bomb shelter screeched shut. Gasping for breath she volunteered, "I will go back and get the baby." A screaming verbal exchange between number two Aunty and the air raid warden shattered the brick faced bunker. Raying to the vaulted ceilings, the Wu family heard the welcomed words from the keeper of the keep, "Ok. But hurry." Wu, Wai Mei McKellar was born Thursday, February 1, 1945 in Takao, Formosa (now called Kaohsiung, Taiwan) two hours before an American air raid. The Wu family sustained over thirty bombings between October 1944 and August 1945. Eight members of the McKellar family volunteered for military service during World War one, World War Two and Korea. Five of the eight were stationed in the Pacific area during the Second World War in the U.S. Navy. The Wartime experiences of the Wu and McKellar families lead to an inter-racial marriage that has endured the ravages of time for over thirty seven years. Many events led to World War II. Three crisis in particular jump out of the pages of history; the Japanese battleship building program-1916, The Battle of Shanghai, July 7, 1937And the Panay Incident of Dec. 12, 1937. The name Formosa is used throughout to refer to the island that is now called Taiwan, since all documents and literature use this name as it existed before and during the war. Takao, Formosa is now called Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Taihoku, Formosa is known as Taipei, Taiwan. Like a feather in the wind we follow a time line rather than chapter headings. This book Includes facts not generally covered by the standard historical approach to World War Two And its aftermath. The incidents related are based on research and oral histories. The historical/ events are true. The book is in all essentials factual. *When informed of her daughters' marriage to the author, Wu, Lin Tan, now 104, said, "The monkey and the tiger do not cry the same sound."
